“ALONE WE CAN DO SO LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH”-HELEN KELLER

How we became Angels Community Group.

Dream it.

Angels Community Group was only a dream in 2015, after a death in the family and losing a job after 20 years our founders Sue Tasker and Kerri Savidge dreamt of creating a place that would help others while helping themselves.

Build it.

We started as solely a training organisation, conducting Work For The Dole programs. One of the programs was to fit out a store, and Second 2 None was born, our first Social Enterprise. The charity work soon followed.

Grow it.

As Second 2 None was growing, our customers started asking for clothes and food assistance. The community cupboard was created to help those asking for food. We were passionate about helping the community but needed funds to do it. We saw a huge need for low cost groceries.

Sell it.

That is when Angels Mini Mart began business, we brought low cost groceries to Bundaberg in high volume. Local bakeries and farms jumped on board and soon we were giving out free bread and fresh produce daily. After one year we had out grown out little store and taken over next door and more then doubled in size.

Expand it.

Our social enterprises have exploded and become busy little stores and cafes full of customers. We have volunteers, trainees and staff serving the community 6 days a week. Our charity work has expanded to 12 different sectors with a huge focus on food insecurity. We were bursting at the seams in our two stores so we have expanded and moved all our charity work into Angels Support Centre, giving it it’s own space and attention it deserves.

Keep dreaming it.

We have rapidly grown in 5 years, beyond our wildest dreams, however as we grow so do our dreams. We want to keep expanding, keep reacting to the needs of our community and grow more relationships with locals, business’ and organisations. Watch this space the year 2020 is going to be an exciting one.
